Employment Opprtunities:

Camp Counselor - We have two part time positions open. One for weekday mornings and one for weekends. The position involves supervising dog play, rewarding dogs for good behavior, limiting undesirable behavior, washing dogs, kennel cleaning, etc. This is a rather athletic position where mental acuity is important. This job requires good communication skill, good multitasking ability and a huge love of dogs. Prior dog training, especially clicker training, a plus but not necessary. Pay commensurate with experience.

Dog Trainer - The position requires someone that loves people almost as much as dogs because you are actually teaching dog owners and the other employees at Camp Four Paws, not just dogs. Perfection is a goal not a requirement. Punishment of people is just as undesirable as punishment for dogs. We hired a great trainer once but she was so abusive to people we have been shy to hire another. The trainer will help out in all aspects of kennel work when training work is not required. This means you will work with other employees on an equal basis taking instruction from the kennel manager. Knowledge of learning theory, clicker training, and good communication skills are a must. Public speaking at local dog parks may be required at some point to review proper play behavior. Good writing skills are also important. Most important is a huge love of dogs, an appreciation of their purity and all their funny foibles.
